Daisho was always told growing up that if he truly wants something, it must be fought for. The real world is cold, and sometimes you have to claw your way to the top, no matter what it takes.
As the youngest of two children, Daisho received a lot of attention from both of his parents, particularly his stay at home mother. His father, being a stockholder, provided enough money to support the entire household and make enough that Daisho can easily say he comes with a wealthy family. Of course, when he was younger, he never really saw or understood all of the underhanded things that went into his father's business, nor did he care at such a young age. His mother was always happy, and they never had to worry about much when it came to funds or rifts within the family.
As he got older, that was when his father began to instill these habits in him. Being a fairly bright kid, Daisho was able to keep up with the odds and ends his father would show him, for the most part. Mergers, lay offs, cutting ties with their partners, Daisho understood all of this to be necessary for things to stay afloat on his father's end. He didn't ever see the other end of it, nor was he ever made to even consider it, so it never really effected him that much.
His family put him in a good school from the very start, making sure that the natural ability to adapt and learn quickly was something that would stick for their son. Of course, Daisho ended up making quite a bit of enemies from the start. Nobody particularly liked him seeing as he was viewed as a trust fund kid, some kids were even effected by his father's business decisions. It never bothered Daisho much, why should it? He was happy. He continued to make good grades and cooperate in his classes when necessary, always receiving high marks from his teachers. He quickly received a reputation of being a "good kid".
This was all new to his father, seeing as he wanted Daisho to someday take over the business. And for a while, that's what Daisho thought he wanted, too.
Until he got his hands on a volleyball for the first time.
Oddly enough, Daisho could easily apply the tactics taught to him to the sport, and he was good at it.
Of course, much like in the business world, these tactics aren't typically accepted and typically frowned upon in sports. But Daisho, being who he is, made it all so convincing to those around him, and when you're winning more times than not, with all of the odds in your favor, how can one really turn away from it?
By the time Daisho made it to Nohebi Academy, he had a well established name for himself, and a pretty cooperative team to go along with his antics.
Despite his methods of winning, Daisho has a true love for the sport. When he's not playing in matches, he's watching them or practicing. One could say he quickly became obsessed with volleyball, even to the point that he failed to make or maintain any friendships or relationships outside of it.
Despite never making it to Nationals, he was recruited before graduation to play volleyball in college. Around that very same time, his father was caught embezzling money that resulted in his company collapsing. It caused a strain on the family, and with Suguru's sister already moved out and him on his way, his mother decided to finally divorce the piece of shit. She left with Suguru to Aichi, where they lived together until Suguru sought out his own romantic pursuits anyway.
He had it all figured out on his end, he'd gotten an apartment of his own and an engagement ring for his high school girlfriend (if one could call them that, seeing how they were constantly on and off again). A month after buying the ring, Mika-chan decided the distance was too much, Daisho always had a problem with giving her the time and attention she needed, and apparently his efforts weren't quick enough. Their 6 year on and off again relationship came to a definite end, and Daisho dealt with it like he does everything else: pouring his time and effort and frustations into the sport that's always been a constant for him.
Over the years, he's come to realize the real way to get what he wants in life is to apply himself as much as he can, work hard and reap the rewards later down the line. Though some old habits and ways still hold true, he's matured a lot from the misguided direction he was given growing up. If anything, he works harder now than he ever did, knowing that if he'd applied himself this way in the past some things would probably be different now, but he's determined to make a comfortable, honest, and rewarding life for himself. However, pulling him out of that and reminding him to not lead his life all on his own is sometimes a struggle.
Headcanons
-Daisho has very fine to no hair on his legs, and shaves the rest because of this.
-He wakes up (extra) cranky because of low blood pressure in the mornings.
-He has a pet ball python named Miho that his uncle gave him in junior high. She's a little shit who bites him but he loves her and baby talks her often.
-Stands and sits with perfect posture almost always, except when hes miffed.
-Very flexible, and he enjoys weirding people out with it.
-Always cold due to poor blood circulation.
-He has two moles on the right his neck that resemble a snake bite.
-He doesn't care much about coming off as "attractive," but he makes a point to make sure his appearance is always neat. One wrinkle in his shirt will drive him crazy all day. He keeps his nails neatly trimmed, hair always perfectly in place, etc.
-He smokes cigarettes and always tells himself he'll quit.
-He's fairly humble despite his awful personality, when people give him genuine compliments he often stutters.
FAMILY HEADCANONS
Dad
-Suguru has a weird relationship with his father after growing up. He knows if he had followed in his dad's footsteps he'd be exactly where he is now, and so there's a feeling of his father being a bit jealous that his son outsmarted him and put his teachings to use in a way that benefited Suguru more.
-Asks Suguru for money, but in a way that he manages to trick Suguru into doing it.
-Staying in Tokyo.
-Still thinks he's dating Mikachan.
Mom
-MILF
-Suguru has her eyes.
-A lot of how he goes about pursuing men was taught by his mother.
-So she's kind of unhinged too.
-Loves money and is dating another rich guy after the divorce.
-Probably the person Suguru is closest to in his immediate family.
-Way too observant and gives unsolicited advice about his love life.
Sister
-10 years older than Suguru.
-Evil but also a MILF.
-Much more rowdy than Suguru turned out to be, though they used to have screaming matches constantly at home.
-Very blunt and will say exactly what she means even if it makes the person cry.
-Has a mean pre-teen daughter that only looks up from her phone long enough to throw devastating one-liner insults at Suguru.
-Quietly waited for her brother to come out as gay for ages.
MUN
-Mun is 21+, so that means I will speak about mature themes and I do not feel comfortable even interacting with anyone under 18. Please do not follow if so, I apologize but I find it inappropriate for adults to interact with minors and expose them to nsfw themes.
-I will not follow anyone who uses irl faceclaims.
-I will not follow anyone who reposts art.
-Excessive nsfw posting will result in me just unfollowing you. Live your life man but that ain't me.
-Daisho is MEAN!!!!!!!!!!! And I apologize in advance.
-I personally don't have any specific themes that make me uncomfortable to the point they need to be tagged.
-If I am following or interacting with someone who is questionable, please dm me and let me know. I stay very disconnected from this verse and don't really know what goes on half the time.
SHIPPING
-My main ship is the only one I would like to focus on on the timeline. A thread here and there is fine, but I don't want to get verses confused.
-I probably won't be comfortable shipping with you if it feels like I'm just in a harem and all you want to do is fuck my muse. That's not what I'm here for.
-I enjoy slow burn and having substance before going for a ship, constantly hinting towards it to the point I have to play straight up stupid to prolong the slow burn will honestly just make me lose interest. Daisho isn't easy to win over and I see him as someone who's difficult to be with in the first place. If it's too easy it doesn't feel in character anymore on my end.
-Using others to make my muse jealous and love triangles (without my consent) as a plot point will make me lose immediate interest. I don't know who needs to hear this but nobody wants to deal with that shit.
